Romance every day!
(and taking a little romantic time in Chicago)
Romance begins within yourself. Know yourself, know your likes and dislikes, and explore your surroundings accordingly — solo or with a companion.
Solo – or sola for the ladies – is a fine way to venture out. You may enjoy things at your own pace, embrace yourself, reacquaint yourself with … you. You also are free to meet new people for refreshing chats or conversation. Yet that is secondary. First in importance is your time to explore and to take care of yourself. Bring a journal, to write to yourself, or stationery to write to others, when you take breaks.
If not alone, I recommend you explore with only one other person. If you’re unattached, bring one friend who is as excited about the outing as you. Bringing more friends might dilute the imbibing in the surroundings together.
For couples, don’t add a wheel for these romantic suggestions, and don’t tag on another couple. Think of it as a bicycle-built-for-two endeavor, a mostly smooth ride that’s open to the elements.
A romantic in Chicago offers ideas for taking time out to savor life.

* Monthly note
Monthly note The official summer season – or, I guess, tourist season – is Memorial Day through Labor Day. During this time,
Chicagoans and visitors may relish in free Navy Pier Fireworks Shows Wednesday and Saturday nights, plus neighborhood festivals, and “Gardens on The Magnificent Mile“.
*Yet also, tourist season and all seasons, watch out for pickpockets. They’re watching for you to let down your guard. Keep pocketbooks and wallets in not-to-reach places, and keep purses snug under-arm. (More.)
